Pumpkin & Apple Picking

Again this year, Rory and some of her friends (whose parents do "wine & cheese" together each month) ventured out to the pumpkin farm.
The kids enjoyed the farm and all its fun much more this year, including climbing on the big haystacks.
Rory spotted her pumpkin almost immediately.
Rory returned to the site where she first learned to "share the goat".
Rory and Dahlia did more "apple eating" than "apply picking".
Since this adventure, Rory now refuses to eat apples that have been cut up, insisting on only being served a whole apple.
Rory has become an apple lover.

Each year, the Advisory Board Company throws a Halloween Party for the kids of employees. The kids get to do "trick or treating" throughout the building. This year, Rory was dressed as a butterfly, continuing a "bug" theme from last year. Here, Rory poses for a picture in Daddy's office.
Daddy's colleagues thought Rory was awfully stylish in her butterfly costume. They were kind enough to supply Rory with extra candy, and Rory was kind enough to put on quite a show (taking her candy in and out of her bag at least 10 times).
Rory had a hard time with the concept of "take just one dear".
Rory was very proud of her bag. Her Mommy forgot to bring a Halloween bag, but she did have a wine bag ready to go (of course).
Fortunately, as the evening came to a close, Rory was more interested in eating a banana than she was eating chocolate! (We probably can't expect that next year.)

Picture Day

Rory gets dressed for "picture day" at school ...
... that smile still needs some practice.

Where'd my crib go?

Across the last few weekends, Rory and her family moved out of their townhouse in Old Town Alexandria and into an apartment in Shirlington as a temporary residence while they look for a new home. Rory found the move very exciting, although she had a moment of confusion when she entered her old bedroom and couldn't find her things.

Sweet Smiles & Sweaters

The temperature has cooled and Autumn has arrived, which means that Rory could break-out her sweaters. Her favorite was knitted by Rachel, Rory's mommy's cousin.

Scenes from a Birthday Party

Rory wore her yellow sun dress to Ingrid's "Octoberfest" birthday party.
Yes, this is probably the last year that we parents can get away with a birthday theme that is more adult-friendly than it is kid-friendly.

Gymnastics Class

Rory has started a gymnastics class.
Rory loves gymnastics almost as much as she enjoys her music class.
Finally, the "little monkey" has a place that she can call home.

Rennaissance Festival

For three years in a row, Rory took her parents to the Maryland Rennaissance Festival.
This year, Rory enjoyed the outdoor theater productions!
Back at home, Rory insisted that she put on her own costume.
