A Gift from the Great Aunts

Rory is blessed with a gaggle of "great" aunts who have given Rory the gift of warmth and style. The Eveslage sisters (Barbara, Nancy, and Janet), aided by the quilting prowess of Bev McGuiness, have given Rory a beautiful quilt. And Aunt Candy has knitted Rory a super soft blanket.
Rory's new quily matches the colors of her nursery perfectly.

Rory is a big fan of "back time", but not crazy about "tummy time" quite yet.

Rory admires the pattern of her new quilt.

Rory likes to get lost in her new blanket.

Rory Shoots Another Video

Rory enjoys play time with her mommy, as this second video of Rory shows. Rory has also become a queen of the stare down, which she recently won with her stuffed bug (see below).

This was a busy weekend for Rory. In addition to shooting videos, she enjoyed a day a wine tasting ...

... and breakfast with her Uncle Allen and Aunt Chelle.

Orange Bag

Who needs expensive toys when your daughter is mystified by a bright orange gift bag?!

"Yes, I am adorable. What's your point?"

"Oh, hello Orange Bag, you are back!"

"Mommy, is it okay if I play with Orange Bag?"

"Oh, Orange Bag you are so funny!"

"Yes, we have a lot to catch up on. I could talk for hours."

Rory Laughs

Across the last few days, Rory has started to become more responsive to her parents. She'll stare at us for longer stretches of time, turn her head when she hears us talking, and (as these pictures show) laugh when we make silly faces at her. It doesn't get more adorable than this ...

"Are you looking at me mommy?"

"Oh, it's funny face time!"

"Hee hee."

"Hah hah!"

"Oh, this is soooo fun!"

Family & Friends with Rory at One Month

Rory and her (great) aunt Janet. The Mastersons were kind enough to host us for a wonderful lunch.
Rory and her (great) uncle Kevin. We always knew Kevin was a softy.
Here, the women in Rory's life gather around her naked body for some female ritual not well understood by Rory's father.

Rory and her aunt Jenny. Is Rory chewing on a dreadlock?

Rory and her uncle Michael.
Rory and her friend Sara. Sara and her husband Guy made a visit to the O'Hara household. Sara used to work at the Advisory Board with Sarah and Tim.
Rory and her (great) aunt Candy. Candy and Buddy spent an afternoon with us while in DC for a wedding.
Rory and her (feline) brother Pippin enjoy taking stroller rides together.

Fair & Balanced Coverage

Okay. I know that I have probably given you the impression that Rory is always either peacfully restful or pleasantly alert and that Pippin enjoys all his time with Rory. I am posting these pictures to provide you with a fair and balanced perspective on our life here at baby/kitten central.

Rory is typically fussy between her 9 and 11 in the evening. And when she gets going, our little girl has quite a pair of lungs.
And when Rory becomes Our Little Squawk Box, Pippin heads for higher ground!
Fortunately, mommy comes to the rescue!

Rory at Four Weeks

Check out a short video of Rory making faces at the camera.

Well, Sarah and I have survived our first month with Rory, and Rory has survived her first four weeks with her rookie parents. It hasn't always been peaches and cream, but when Rory gives us looks like this one, it really does make it all worth it.

Rory has started to mimic her daddy and mommy when they stick out their tongue. Fortunately, she doesn't mimic her daddy when he uses bad words to describe world events.

Despite our attempts to raise our daughter in a gender-neutral world, she really looks lovely in lavender and very pretty in pink.

At four weeks, Rory has good use of her neck muscles and enjoys wiggling on her stomach.

Rory especially likes her swing (thank you Matt & Tonia) and sling ... two places that she snuggles in for a fun ride.

Another Photo Shoot With Daddy

Really, daddy, do we really need to do this again so soon?

Okay, fine, I'll give you an action shot.

Yes, I can "do my cute face" for you. I know I make this look easy.

Okay, nap time. That was enough exercise for today.

My Dad Is Blogging This

What are you doing daddy?

Ohhh, I get it. Picture time.

I like pictures. This is fun.

How is this funny face daddy?

Rory's First Bath

This weekend, Rory's umbilical cord fell off, and so we were able to give Rory her first bath.
Rory was a little shocked by the water, but her Mommy calmed her down.
In fact, we think she even kinda liked it, although she was a little shy for the camera.
There we go ... now she likes it.
Nice and dry!

Rory at Three Weeks Old

In the last three weeks, Rory has begun to fill out and become much more expressive ... and adorable, I might add.
She can lift her neck for several seconds and turn it back and forth.
Pippin has not quite figured her out, but he did finally give Rory his signature head butt, his personal sign of affection.
Rory has always been a good sleeper (god bless her!), although she is not yet predictable in her schedule.
