Step Up Day

On Tuesday, Rory made a big step. She attended "step up" day at MacArthur elementary, where she'll be starting kindergarten in the Fall.

Rory was very excited to place herself at the front of the class.

Aven, in a bid to show that she was a big kid too, made a play for Mommy's coffee.

Afterwards, Rory and Aven posed for the camera.

Pose two.

Pose three.

The Funny Things Your Kids Say

Rory on our way to school on Wednesday as I tuned in to NPR: "Daddy, when you play the news it makes my tummy hurt."

"Fancy, Fancy Aven!"

Aven woke up on Wednesday with a simple request: "Fancy, Fancy, Aven!" And her Mommy delivered.

Birthday Season Begins

And, thus, the summer birthday season begins. Kicking things off right is Aidan, pictured here with his two main squeezes.
Aidan throws a mean party and a mean pitch (he's a huge baseball fan).

Rory was sufficiently impressed.

And Aven was a big fan of the ballpark franks. (She ate the whole thing!)

College Reunion: Rory and Andrew

Rory and Andrew truly enjoyed each other's company this weekend.

Pictured here being silly.

College Reunion: Lollipop Trees

While at the reunion, we stayed at nearby Wintergreen, where Rory introduced Andrew to the time-honored search for the lollipop tree.

Rory led the way, map in hand, till we found the elusive tree.
Fortunately, the lollipop tree was especially bountiful this year, yielding fruit for kids and adults alike.

College Reunion: Campus

This past weekend, Daddy took his family to his 15-year college reunion. Along for the ride was one of his best friends, Jason (and Jason's family).

Rory stood for the obligatory photo on the Lawn in front of the Rotunda. This will make for a wonderful addition to Rory's admissions packet.

Mommy stood for the obligatory "I can think of 10 things I'd rather be doing right now" shot.

Here, Rory and Aven compete for who can stand next to Andrew, Jason's son.

Ahh, alone with her popcorn, Aven has found some happiness at last.
