A Day at Home with Mommy

Rory turns 14 months old this week, so don't you think it's high time for Mommy's first blog post? I get to spend two days a week home with Rory to myself. But what do we do with our time? The answer: lots of activity. After a morning nap, Rory has her snack of cheese on the run. Then it's time to play with all of our toys.

Favorite things include attempting to stand on her little stool, pushing her lion walker at full speed toward Pippin, taunting Mommy while climbing the forbidden stairs, pulling books off the shelf, dumping out the bag of balls...

...having a dance party with the music machine...

...and destroying the newspaper. But a girl can get pretty quickly bored with all this, and that's when it's time to leave the house.

So we head to the park before meeting Ian and his mommy Leigha for lunch. Rory will climb on anything that she sees. She loves to go "up" (though is still figuring out how to get "dow").

After lunch, it's home for a (too-short) nap, and then it's crazy time again! Here, Rory runs through the kitchen after stealing Mommy's headband...

...and cycles back to beat up on the dance party machine. Clearly, it's time to leave the house once more. (What we are going to do when winter comes, I really don't know.)

Rory likes to go for walks in her stroller. She likes to push her stroller even more.

The playground is fun, but nothing compares to the joy of playing post-woman. Door open, door shut. Door open, door shut. Door open...

Back at home, Rory races to the kitchen, ready for her dinner. Why walk anywhere when you can run?

Lately, her favorite chef is named Boyardee -- she loves his mac and cheese and mushy ravioli. Bananas are also a hit, as you can see here.

Finally, Rory is bathed and ready to wind down in her PJs. Daddy comes home from work to put her to bed, and Mommy kicks back with a sigh -- and a nice glass of wine.
