Weekend Warriors
We've had a busy Winter, with frequent weekend trips to new destinations to keep things interesting despite the cold weather outside. Most recently, we traveled down to Fredericksburg, where we were hosted by Tim's cousin Patrick and his wife Jenelle and their dog Roscoe.
Roscoe and Rory became fast friends, especially when she started slipping him hors d'oeuvres that she had snagged from the coffee table.
But something else caught Rory's attention, something playing on the big screen TV ...
... it was were Uncle Allen playing Guitar Hero!
Yes, Rory wanted to claim the Xbox as her own, but she heeded the warnings "don't touch" fairly well.
So, Rory went back to playing with Roscoe, although he had retreated to his "safe space", far from the reach of little hands.
The next morning, Rory awoke from her slumber at the Inn at the Old Silk Mill, and she had her breakfast amidst Confederate memorabilia.
The Inn was nice and cozy and historic ... a fine place to spend a weekend.
Later, Rory toured colonial Fredericksburg, but the only photo that her Father took was of his future business venture.
The next weekend, Rory enjoyed her first real snow in Wintergreen.
We rented a house near the ski slopes with our friends Mark and Alison and their daughter Karenna (or Renny).
Rory and her family bundled up so that they could go tubing on the slopes of the ski resort.
Rory spent lots of time with her friend Renny. They even had matching purple snow jackets.
Although Rory didn't enjoy the tubing herself, she liked to watch Renny head down the slopes...
... and her Mommy as well!
No, Rory liked the smaller slides this time.
While Rory and Renny were distracted by the water fountain, their parents alternated turns on the much steeper "adult" tubing slopes!
Later that evening, Rory and Renny warmed up by taking a bath together.
They had a good time together, especially when they started splashing each other.
On our way home, we stopped in Charlottesville for Rory's first trip to Bodo's Bagels, a shop that brought back memories of her Daddy's days in college.
